Metrolinx updates progress on Union-Pearson electrification plans

Metrolinx is currently considering proposals on how to eletrify the new Airport Express Line which is currently under construction from downtown Toronto all the way to Pearson Airpor in Mississauga. However before any work can begin on a plan to eletrifiy the rails an enviroment study needs to be comisssioned to study the impact of Hydro and Electric Switiching and substations on nearby communities.

The link between the downtown core and the airport is one of many very high priority transit projects which Metrolinx is currently overseeing. Other projects include the study of a downtown relief line into the core of Toronto, as well as All-day GO Service to the outer suburbs of Toronto including Hamilton, and the Crosstown Eglinton LRT line which will run underground in central toronto from Keele all the way to Don Mills.
