If Toronto would like to have a subway, it will alao have to take charge of a potential Scarborough subway if city councillors insist on having one, the head of Metrolinx warned in a sharp increase in the battle between the provincial agency and the city.
Bruce McCuaig, the chief executive of the provincial transit agency, said after a meeting with top officials from the Toronto Transit Commission and the City of Toronto that Metrolinx was ready to send the Scarborough Transit file directly to the city. The problem with a Subway in Scarborough is the lower density will not provide efficient funding for the system there.
