Using Sales Tax to Pay for Transit

More Metro Vancouver workers use public transit Transit funding plans unveiled

Voter-approved regional sales taxes for similar transit expansions have been successfully introduced in Los Angeles, Seattle and Denver, according to the authors.

People in Metro Vancouver want more transit service and we need it to unlock some of the economic potential.

Vancouver is currently expanding its rapid transit system with new lines on the Evergreen and Canada Line Routes.

Believe it or not, Vancouver has Canada's longest rapid transit network, longer than Toronto by 1 km. Even though Toronto's subway has more capacity than all Metro Vancouver rapid and bus transit combined.
Once the Eglinton Line and York line are completed Toronto will once again have the longest rapid transit network in Canada.
